Elementary Math:

Math Expressions: This is an online version of what is taught in the classrooms across Northshore School District. We offer grade-level consumable workbooks that accompanies this curriculum.

 
Middle School:

Core Focus: Core Focus on Math is a middle school math curriculum series which spans the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) students need to learn in 6^th grade through high school Algebra I.

The foundation of the program is built on the CCSS Priority Clusters (also known as the Critical Areas) as well as strategies to develop the habits of mind in students articulated in the Standards for Mathematical Practice.

There are three texts per grade level, each focusing on multiple clusters of standards in the Common Core and collectively addressing the complete grade level standards.

iReady Math: iReady is an  online assessment and instruction tool that provides all students a path to proficiency and growth in reading and mathematics.

 
OER Commons: OSPI is offering free virtual curriculum to all students.

 
Achieve The Core:

Education.com   This is a free website full of lessons, skill practice games, and many worksheets, available to all grade levels and in all subject areas.

Elementary Language Arts

Benchmark Reading:

This is the main Reading Curriculum being offered by NSD right now and it is an online program.  This resource also contains word study and vocabulary. 

Writing:

Resources are available for grades K-9 for enrolled families.

Handwriting:

Ideas and practice worksheets for letter formation and beginning writing skills are available for enrolled families.
 
Middle School Language Arts:

Springboard English Language Arts offers a full curriculum with a flexible framework so you can use its units and resources as needed.

Students develop and refine skills in critical thinking, close reading, writing in various genres, and doing research.

Over the course of the program, they read and analyze a wide range of texts in genres including poetry, novels, plays, biographies, nonfiction narratives, speeches, and films. They also learn to write in forms including essays, personal narratives, argumentative texts such as editorials, and research papers.

Each grade level uses complex, grade appropriate texts that allow students to examine an idea from multiple points of view while working with a variety of genres.  Students progress from guided reading through collaborative projects to confident, independent work.

iReady Reading is an online assessment and reading program that helps students of all ages become thoughtful, analytical readers. Its personalized instruction adjusts the lesson path to meet every reader at their individual level, enabling teachers to provide a personalized learning experience for each student.

 

Elementary Science: 

TCI Science Alive: Built from the ground up to align with NGSS, the TCI science curriculum provides investigation materials, blended learning resources, online science textbooks, and customizable assessments needed to support student success, in the moment and throughout the year.

Middle School Science:

STC: Carolina STC Science units provide comprehensive curriculum that covers all Middle School Science learning standards, and includes hands on as well as text supported learning experiences.

Social Studies:  NFP supports comprehensive Social Studies exploration in onsite classes, as well as grade-level Social Studies Strand support for at home learning.

Middle School Social Studies  - TCI Social Studies curriculum provides various print and online support tools including social studies textbooks, ELL support, text-to-speech, reading levels, in-line vocabulary, Spanish translations, closed captioning, and more to meet your needs and the unique learning needs of your student.

TCI’s programs are designed to help students master the essential skills and knowledge. Every unit includes primary sources and activities to make the lessons more inquiry-based and to develop critical-thinking skills.

Visual Arts - these are the standards for teaching Visual Arts in Washington.

Music - these are the standards for teaching music in Washington.

Music does not have a set curriculum for the home. Northshore Learns 3.0 has provided resources for music learning under “Home Learning Resources” for music. There are a variety of ideas for music engagement - https://www.nsd.org/northshore-learns.

Second Step provides a holistic approach to Social-Emotional Learning across home, school, and out-of-school time environments, and throughout developmental stages. Second Step aims to help students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. These programs are culturally relevant, affirming, and accessible to all children.

Since 2017, the state legislature in Washington has tasked the OSPI with creating standards related to the digital literacy and citizenship of students receiving public instruction in the state of Washington. This content includes instruction on how to read and consume information online, how to be a responsible citizen in online spaces, and how to remain safe while interacting with others in online spaces.

We do not have a Northshore-specific curriculum at the moment. Currently, we refer teachers and families to the resources at Common Sense HERE. At that site you can filter lessons by grade level to find information that applies to your child. There are also videos and materials that can walk you through the expectations for students at each grade level.
