Attendance Policy

Regular school attendance is required and is necessary if students are to succeed academically. Northshore Learning Options is committed to working with parents to ensure that students regularly attend school.

Northshore School District, in compliance with Board Policy and Washington State Law, requires parents/guardians to inform the school of student absences. Please report your child's absence and reason for absence before 8:30 AM at 425-408-4110 or bearcreek@nsd.org. If you do not call before 9:30 AM, you may receive a call notifying you that your child is absent from school.

Student absences need to be reported in writing, by phone, or in person at the school office. Teachers will not be able to properly document planned absences, therefore, report those absences to the office as well. The call, note or email must be received within 72 hours of the absence in order for the absence to be considered excused.

Prearranged Absence Form

If you know your child is going to be absent for several days, please notify the school by completing this Prearranged Absence Form. Upon completion of the form, please email it to bearcreek@nsd.org. All planned absences of 5 days or more require Principal approval through this form in order to be considered excused. Submit form at least two weeks prior to the absences.

*Please note: State law requires that a student be withdrawn after 20 consecutive absences. You may need to provide “proof of residence” to reactivate your student upon their return.
